The continuous improvement of the North Monroe corridor is a strategic priority for Leon County and efforts to focus and expedite improvements have been ongoing for years. In addition to the previous accomplishments on the North Monroe Corridor, Leon County has three strategic initiatives in the FY2022-2026 Strategic Plan.
These initiatives are:
- Develop an interactive community web-based tool that documents planned improvements, tracks investments, and identifies enhancement strategies for the North Monroe Corridor area.
- Building on the Citizens North Monroe Task Force Final Report, host an intensive, multi-day design charrette to work with the community to identify and evaluate a variety of land use/planning strategies and other proposals for the continued improvement of the North Monroe Corridor area.
- Implement the recommendations of the Citizen’s North Monroe Street Task Force to reduce crime and improve conditions along the North Monroe Corridor.
North Monroe Corridor Enhancement Plan: The North Monroe Corridor Enhancement Plan is a web-based tool that documents planned improvements, tracks investments, and identifies enhancement strategies for the North Monroe Corridor area.
COMPREHENSIVE RESULTS OF THE NORTH MONROE CORRIDOR
OUTREACH WILL BE PRESENTED
TO THE LEON COUNTY BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS IN EARLY 2024.
Multi-Day Design Charrette: Staff led a multi-day effort with the community to work together, identify, and evaluate a variety of land use/planning strategies and other proposals for the continued improvement of the North Monroe Corridor area.
Online Survey: Three parts of the online survey covered topics such as land use, vehicular, pedestrian, and bicycle transportation, and asked the community about previous improvements as well as future big ideas.
Since July 2023, over 500 surveys have been completed by the community. Folks participated in the Charrette by one or more of the many ways outlined below.
